Congratulations, Andrea
You won immunity for your design. The challenge was IMPOSSIBLE, but you pretended it was achievable. The Bell family had so many conflicting desires for one room that it seemed a miracle to please them all.
Avery: "Aw, Mommy. There are too many people working on this project!"
Good move # 1: You chose Blair Toland as your carpenter. He knew how to take your orders.

What the hell is with these judges any way? If the client is happy with the job that was done as the Bells obviously were, then who cares if the judges didn't like the design? I mean come on, how many times have we seen the clients love the rooms and then the judges totally trash it in the white room? They are always telling the designers to listen to your client, blah, blah, blah........they need to practice what they preach. Jonathan, Margaret, Kelly & whatever guest judge that pops up, while judging, you need to LISTEN to the client. If they are happy, take that into consideration instead of injecting your own personal likes and dislikes into your judging. And designers, you are already a winner if your client is happy, don't let those over botoxed robots let you think otherwise!
(((MUAH)))
umm...
It's true, if the client is happy, you're a winner. But, that doesn't mean you couldn't have done a better job. All designers have projects, with happy clients, that they wish they could go back and do something differently. It's a lifelong learning kind of career and down the road we learn a better way to do something, or our own taste evolves, and you look at a photo and think... oops.
So, in theory, I don't have any problem with the judges criticising work that client's have liked. I do, however, have problems with these judges. But that's a rant I've left around the blogosphere.
I had nothing on my own blog recap - I'm leaving my comments on everyone elses!
Psst...hey, Mac. Your family hates you. Runaway, boy. They stuck you in the garage with the rest of their squirrel-urine soaked crap. Runaway and find a nice family who'll let you have a pretty dog house in the back yard...
