    Keep Trying Andy ...

Ive tried so hard to like this show but it aint happening. I adore Todd Oldham even if he looks like Alfred E. Newman. I wanna pinch his cheeks then hold hands and skip to Pier 1 with him.
Jonathan, well, I like his designs but can he not afford socks? He comes off as trying too hard and the forced "see ya later decorater" is terrible.
Kelly, um, well, she um, er, oh hell, WTF is with her? All I can think of is "Square Pegs."
Margaret scares me. I look at her and I hear the words "No wire hangers!"

Poor Andy is doing everything he can to insert drama.

I'm going to continue to watch the show, regardless of how terrible I think it is. Come on, yall wanna see what Kelly will wear next or if Margaret is gonna go all Joan Crawford just as much as I do.

    brillke.

    Smugly, Sweetly ...

    ... the winners!

Can one be humble and sweet and talented at the same time? I think so. Goil's and Elizabeth's "Victory Dance" video on Bravo talked about validation, and pride in their talent and creative work without putting down the competition. Kudos to you both!

    Bye Lisa and Heather!

We hardly knew you, but we wish you well! Here's a brief recap of your stint on Top Design.

These lines will disguise the fact that we don't know what we're doing!

Should I tell them what I think or just keep making faces from the sideline?

    Taa Daa! It's a sofa. It's a bed. It's a sofa bed!

Uh, oh, there goes my career as a top designer.

Ciao, dahlings. You'll see me soon again!

    Two Will Be Auf'd!

Two designers will go tonight! The guest mystery judge? Alexis Arquette.
Alexis is "sister" to David Arquette, Rosanna Arquette, and Patricia Arquette. She will help to choose which team of two will win, and which team of two will go.
    Stay tuned, TD Fans.

    Andy's New Set Revealed!

Oh, Andy, how could Bravo stint you like this? Look at the paltry gray set they gave you for your live chats for Top Chef 2! Did you have no say in the matter? Bravo has been making a gazillion advertising dollars off it's Project Whatever reality shows, but look how they're treating you, you poor sweet man.
They've exiled you to some tiny curtained corner on Wednesday nights and stuck you with a tinny sound and some cheesy props. Even Charley Rose’s set over at PBS looks better than yours, and that’s saying nothing!

So what do you think about the set design, Tom and Sam?
"Er, huh, ah, well...very In-teres-ting, Andy. Actually, we'd rather not say."

In making the decision to compete with us genius bloggers on our busiest night of the week, one would have thought that Bravo would have elicited the help of its new phalanx of designers to design a fabulous set for you.

Our Top Designers are right on top of things! In their zeal to get started, and without any prompting from the big brass in the control room, the designers formed four groups of three. Their mission? To design a new set for you based on a 60's or 70's show theme. Here's what they came up with.

Happy Days Set Design: Team led by Michael Adams, with Cariza Prez-Fuentes and Erik Kolacz.

"We envision Andy in a diner with nice naugahide booths decorated with aquamarine pleather and a bright red and white checkered floor. Tom and Marion could help him host the chats. They're so accessible. Besides, they need the job, having been without work for almost two decades.

Here's our Andy on the Happy Day's set!

    And here are his cohosts.

The Lost in Space Set: John Gray's team, comprising of Elizabeth Moore and Andrea Keller went space age.

"This Lost in Space ambiance, with its simplistic backdrop and emphasis of function over form is our way of propelling Andy into the 25th Century. Andy's brains will have grown too big for his head, so we'll need the Robot to prop him up as he talks to his guests."

When asked about his inspiration, John Gray, team leader said,"We feel that the original set was not gray enough. We intend to extend the gray so that the guests, Andy, and grayness meld into one, completely receding into the backdrop. Even Andy as the Robot will be dressed in gray. Gray is good. Gray is a winner. Let Grayness reign!"

The Gilligan's Island Set: Led by team leader Lisa Turner and her mates Ryan Humphrey and Felicia Bushman.

"We feel that Andy needs a team to help him through those awkward first moments. He doesn't need props, but needs to be surrounded by people who will prop him up. Set in a natural environment made of foam rocks and Colorado River Water pumped in from the Mexican Border, only a few coconut husks and some mountains of luggage will be needed to complete our vision for Andy."

The final team, lead by Heather Ashton and consisting of Matt Lorenz and Goi Amornvivat, decided to design the new set around the concept of a bottle. Hence, the "I Dream of Jeannie" set was born.

"This set was born out of magic, it breathes magic, it exudes magic from every tasseled corner. Aside from sensual textures, this set promises sexual tension for the viewers, guests, and host for years to come. America is all about sexual tension. Without it, advertising wouldn't exist. Without sex, we wouldn't exist. This set, therefore, is more than the sum of its parts."

Guest judge Barbara Eden gave rather harsh reviews for the first three sets, but waxed ecstatic over the final choice! "I was stuck wearing that outfit for untold years. For almost half a century I couldn't eat more than a few grapes, carrot sticks, or prunes for fear of popping my belly button. It's time for someone else to don my belly baring mantle. Andy is the perfect choice!"

"Thank you, Bravo, for my new set. I'll endeavor to do it justice!"

"Dayum, Andy! We hoped you'd choose us! How much longer are we gonna be stuck on this blasted island? We're almost out of clean clothes! Tell Bravo to get us outta here, will ya? Any series will do. Pride goeth before the storm, which is comin.'"

The Answer to the Puzzle: Snap Out of It!

Yes, dahlings. This was an easy one. It's lighting, of course. Though ostrich eggs did cross my mind!

This light's called Moonstruck. "No stencils are used with the flower pattern, which makes each piece a bit different and unique.

By using a clear light bulb the flower pattern are drawn all over walls and ceilings – if this effect is undesired simply use an opaque light bulb."

These Aren’t Your Father’s Penny Candy

So, you can’t design a room around a cat...according to the judges on Top Design previews...but how about a bear?

They do look good enough to eat, just like they did in the jars on the candy counter but these aren’t edible...they are electrical. That’s right...they’re a light! A company by the name Jellio has these great LED, battery powered lights to brighten even the rainiest of days. If these don’t make you nostalgic for your youth try the Rubik’s Cube coffee table

    or a Squirt Gun Fountain?

All great additions to your family game room or anywhere you need a reminder that you’re still a kid at heart. Go check them out at... www.jellio.com/ Oh, and I’ve got an idea for Bravo...get Parker Brother’s to sponsor a challenge where each designer has to create a room around a board game...

    Petition To TD Blogger

We the undersigned would like to officially protest Top Design Blogger, Ms. Place, and TheHoInMo for favoriting certain designers before the final show has begun. Only Damselfly has made any attempt to play fair on this blog, mentioning every one one of us and distilling our essences.

TheHoInMo singled out Lisa, turning her into a heroine and giving her her very own post. And Ms. Place, the most egregious abuser of the TD Blogger team, has mentioned Michael twice, compared Erik favorably to Jai, and also prominently mentioned Heather, Goil, and John in one of her more critically acclaimed writings.

Singling out certain designers before the show airs is unfair and detrimental to those of us who are overlooked. We only have one shot at making it big time and perhaps earning the opportunity to revamp Donald Trump's outrageous pseudo "traileur trashe" gold lame interior in Trump Tower.

One of us will be asked to pack up our pouffy fringed pillows and go after the first show. The pre-show publicity is our one shot at fifteen minutes of fame and you, Ms. Place, are especially depriving us of our glory.

We petition TD Blogger to give us equal and fair treatment! There are still 10 days to go before the show begins. When you mention us in future blogs, we would prefer that you use the following tag lines:

    Elizabeth: The Froote is goote.

Carisa: One Who Makes No Mistakes, Never makes anything.

Ryan: Empty Thoughts, Lame Excuses, and Decorative Lies

Felicia: California Girl With a Design Attitude

Matt: On the Path to Interior Design Since Five

Andrea: We are both a design office and an idea/product lab

    Signed, the TD Designers

Disclaimer: This post was a dream. Ms. Place woke up and jotted down the thoughts in each designer's head. The designers, though thankful for the publicity, would like you to know: We did not write this petition! Ahem.

    Beggin'

    Phone: Brrrinnggg!

    Ms. Place: Hullo?

    Ab Fab: Missy! It’s Eddy!

    Ms. Place: Silence.

Ab Fab: From across the pond, Dahling.

Ms. Place: Eds! Mygod, it’s been ages! Since the 90’s at least. How’ve you been?

Ab Fab: Oh, you know how it is, Dahling.

Ms. Place: Don’t I ever. No rest for the weary.

Ab Fab: That’s why I’m calling, Dahling. Need another member on your team?

Ms. Place: TD Blogger? You can’t be hittin’ me up for a job, Eds. You’re Ab Fab! You set the standard for design shows and Tongue in Chic!

Ab Fab: Well, you see, it’s like this, Sweetie…I could use the publicity. Ab Fab’s not quite the thing it once was. You know how hard it is keeping your name in the limelight!

Ms. Place: Don’t I ever. But I hate to disappoint you, Dahling. We’re rather proud of our current TD Blogger team and we’re full up. Besides, I don’t know how you’d fit in, what with your 90’s design sensibilities and your penchant for chasing one fad after another. Then there’s the matter of your questionable taste.

    Ab Fab: Wot! WOT!

Ms. Place: Sorry to be harsh, Dahling. Being gentle wouldn’t work. You’d never get the point.

Ab Fab: I’m not getting the point anyway, Dahling. Oh, drat! I'm crawling on my hands and knees, Sweetie. I’m positively begging. Haven’t you any crumbs you could throw my way?

    Ms. Place: Well….

    Ab Fab: Yesss!

Ms. Place: There’s another Bravo show.

    Ab Fab: Do tell.

Ms. Place: Before you get your hopes up, Dahling; there’s absolutely no buzz about it. No watercooler gossip at work. Nothing. Nada. You’d have your work cut out for you.

Ab Fab: I’ll take it, Sweetie!

Ms. Place: You might not after I tell you what it is.

    Ab Fab: Wot? Wot?

Ms. Place: The Real Housewives of Orange County.

Ab Fab: Housewives? Orange County? Where's that?

Ms. Place: California, Dahling. L.A. Land of the botoxed housewife. These gals still visit the Playboy Mansion for a fun night out.

Ab Fab: Wot? Me in a Playboy Mansion? Never! Oh, wait, Sweetie, wait. It’s coming back to me. You want me to dish THOSE tarts?

Ms. Place: You’d be perfect, Eds. You and Pats, and even Bubble. You're way superior to them. Hell, just about anybody is. Just think about it, Dahling. You won't be paid, mind you. None of us are. And it's lots of work. However, time’s running short to create a blog. The second season’s already begun.

    Phone: Brrringgg!

Ab Fab: That's my cell, Sweetie, I’m expecting a call from Bubble. I'll do it, Dahling! My team and I are always ready to dis. We're tight as a drum, and all that rot. Ta, Dahling, gotta go!
